Frank Kashner has had careers in motion picture film editing, as a machinist, a manager in various software development organizations and as a social worker. His anti-authoritarian perspective brought him into productive conflict with governmental, corporate and political entities. He has been a member and activist in several labor unions and community groups. In 1971, for two months, he was even a member of a Communist group, which he quit due to their failure to act in a democratic manner. His work and anti-authoritarian perspective led him into a love-at-first-sight relationship with Bitcoin, which he sees as a liberation technology.
