Ethan Rose, an American expatriate who founded Pouch.ph, a Bitcoin wallet service that uses the Lightning Network to enable customers to seamlessly send and receive money across borders, in 2021.
Before founding Pouch, Rose was a senior software engineer for several years in Seattle at Uber, T-Mobile, Mighty AI and Aurora. As a frequent sender of remittances to the Philippines, Rose understood that the cost and speed could be drastically improved by the Lightning Network compared to the centuries-old “physical” money-transfer process that is still typically used to this day.
