Dr. Alex von Frankenberg is an author and technology expert who has played a defining role in shaping Europe’s and Germany’s startup ecosystem. For two decades, he led High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), an early-stage seed fund, building it into Europe’s most active early-stage investor with more than 800 seed investments and €2 billion under management. Before HTGF, Alex worked at Siemens Research, in strategy and IT consulting, and helped build both a startup and a company builder, experiences that gave him a deep understanding of how innovation takes root and scales. He earned his MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and his Ph.D. from the University of Mannheim, where his dissertation on de facto technology standards foreshadowed his lifelong fascination with network effects and disruptive innovation. That fascination eventually led him to Bitcoin, which he views as a breakthrough capable of becoming the de facto standard for a store of value—honest money for the digital age. You can reach Alex at [email protected] or on X (formerly Twitter) at @Justdoitalex.
